The annual Joint Utility Discount Day (JUDD) will take place at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center on Thursday, September 17th from 8:00 a.m. to 7 p.m. Low-income residents of the District of Columbia can apply for discounts and financial assistance on their utility bills.
Please be sure to bring the following documentation:
· Picture ID
· Proof of Income for all members in the household
· Social security cards
· Copies of all utility bills (electric, water, gas, phone)
· Copy of Rent Receipt or Lease only if gas is included in rent.
For those individuals with a disability or those individuals who are homebound, Energy Office suggests that the application be completed and sent to their office at: DC Energy Office-Reeves Center 2000 14th Street, NW, Third Floor Washington, DC 20009-4484. Application can be found at http://ddoe.dc.gov/ddoe/frames.asp?doc=/ddoe/lib/ddoe/energy_div/pdfs/Assist.Application.pdf. After October 1st, these individuals will be contacted for an office appointment or home visit appointment. However, the best method to ensure timely processing is for arrangements to be made to deliver the application to the office prior to October 1st.
